Karen's Law would prolong the time between parole applications for incarcerated sexually violent predators

A rally was held in the Main Rotunda Monday morning where Sen. John Sabatina (D-Philadelphia) was joined by his colleagues, Pennsylvania Victim Advocate Jennifer Storm, and Karen Widdoss from Karen's Law, to highlight support for Senate Bill 123. 

The legislation would limit parole eligibility for sexually violent predators and prolong the time between parole applications from one year to three years.

Wolf, legislators and advocates join in recognition of Gun Violence Awareness Day

The event was held in recognition of Gun Violence Awareness Day which is this Friday June 7th.

Legislators discuss legislation that would automate expungements

Rep. Joanna McClinton (D-Philadelphia) led a press conference Wednesday morning where she was joined by Rep. Tedd Nesbit (R-Mercer) and others to talk about legislation that would expunge a criminal record when a person has been fully acquitted of a charge or a pardon has been granted. 

McClinton and Nesbit have authored House Bill 440, while Senator Camera Bartolotta (R-Washington) has introduced its companion bill in the Senate.

Fetterman joins advocates to push for upping minimum wage in this year's budget

On Tuesday afternoon multiple legislators stood along side Lt. Gov. John Fetterman and advocates to push for the legislature to pass a budget that would include minimum wage raises. 

Fetterman spoke on behalf of himself and Gov. Tom Wolf and stated, "we need $15 an hour for every working person here in Pennsylvania," adding, "there is no dignity in starvation wages."
