Cruz pushes for legislation to randomly drug test legislators

Rep. Angel Cruz (D-Philadelphia) hosted a press conference Monday afternoon where he pushed for his legislation, House Bill 620, to be brought up for a vote in committee.

The legislation would require members of the House and Senate to be drug tested. The tests would be called by the House Speaker and the Senate President Pro Tempore at random and would be paid for by the legislators out of their own pockets.

Work zone speed cameras a step closer after Senate passes bill

After years of working to get Senate Bill 172 passed, Senators David Argall (R-Schuylkill) and Judy Schwank (D-Berks) are a step closer following its final passage in the Senate today, and now need House approval and the governor's signature to see it enacted. 

The bill would establish a five-year pilot program for using speed cameras in active work zones on interstate highways and the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
