Here are the highlights from news conferences, rallies, and advocacy days held in the Capitol today: 

Workers and advocates gathered alongside Sen. Judy Schwank (D-Berks) in the Main Rotunda to call for an increase in the state's minimum wage from $7.25 to at least $10.10. The rally at the Capitol was one of ten events held throughout the state today by the Raise the Wage PA coalition.

Supreme court effort to reduce civil caseload backload draws praise

Monday, the Administrative Office of the Pennsylvania Courts (AOPC) announced that it has reduced the civil caseload backlog in the Courts of Common Pleas by 19 percent and has taken measures to ensure the caseload backlog is further diminished going into the future.

The reduction in caseload came primarily as a result of what was referred to as “a massive data clean up” that removed cases from the civil docket that were inactive, settled, or otherwise disposed of without notice to the court.
