Lawmakers share milkshake "cheers" for the passage of 13 AG bills

A bipartisan group of lawmakers from the House and Senate joined in the Rotunda to have a Pennsylvania Farm Show milkshake "cheers" to a package of 13 agricultural bills aimed at helping support Pennsylvania's farmers.

Senate Majority Leader Jake Corman (R-Centre) kicked off the press conference and highlighted what the legislature has done to help push these bills forward.

Legislators call for an age change for those receiving marriage licenses

Representatives Perry Warren (D-Bucks) and Jesse Topper (R-Bedford) joined Senators Judy Schwank (D-Berks), Wayne Langerholc (R-Cambria) and John Sabatina (D-Philadelphia) to push for their legislation that would make 18 the legal age to obtain a marriage license. 

The House recently passed Warren and Topper's legislation, HB 360, and the senators are confident that their bill will pass the Senate floor. SB 81 passed out of the Senate Judiciary committee unanimously and is waiting to be brought up on the floor.

Street and Dawkins introduce legislation ending life without parole

Sen. Sharif Street (D-Philadelphia) and Rep. Jason Dawkins (D-Philadelphia) held a press conference to introduce Senate Bill 942 and House Bill 135, which aim to end life without parole in Pennsylvania. 

The bills would allow those who convicted second degree murder to go before the parole board after 25 years, and those who are convicted of first degree murder to go before the board after 35 years.

This amendment would give women the right to vote, and Pennsylvania became the 7th state to ratify it.
