Seth Grove (R-York) recently introduced two bills that would reform how the Commonwealth arrives at its annual revenue estimate and what information the Independent Fiscal Office is able to see when determining its revenue forecasts and provides independent information to the legislature about state finances.

Gov. Wolf issues statewide disaster declaration for the opioid crisis

Gov. Tom Wolf announced Wednesday he is issuing a statewide disaster declaration for the opioid crisis.

 

The declaration puts into action a 90 day state constitutionally-limited period where additional state resources can be coordinated and regulations waived en masse in order to jump start an offense against the heroin and opioid epidemic.

The Pittsburgh Intergovernmental Authority held what the board hopes to be their final ever quarterly meeting Monday afternoon.

During the brief meeting, members voted to pass a resolution calling on the state General Assembly to dissolve the Authority now that Pittsburgh has requested to be pulled from Act 47 distress status.

In the high-ceilinged auditorium of Soldiers and Sailors Memorial in Oakland, introduced by short films trumpeting success from high rankings on LGBTQ rights to the newly ubiquitous bike lanes, Bill Peduto was sworn in for his second term as mayor of Pittsburgh Wednesday afternoon. 


The veteran East End politician’s inauguration capped 24-hour flurry of ceremonies starting Tuesday night that swore in three new elected officials to Pittsburgh and Allegheny county councils as well.
