VIDEO: SR 6 Commission voted on its final report, hoping to help fire and EMS workers

Nearly two years after Sen. Randy Vulakovich (R-Allegheny) and Rep. Stephen Barrar (R-Delaware) began working on Senate Resolution 6, the Senate Resolution 6 Commission voted on and adopted its final report during a Nov. 28 meeting. After the meeting, Vulakovich, Barrar, and most of the 39 members of the commission joined for a press conference where they announced the final report.

The report includes 27 recommendations that are aimed at providing support for volunteer fire and emergency medical services throughout Pennsylvania as well as assisting with professional fire and EMS departments.

PennPIRG announces 33rd Trouble in Toyland report, identifies unsafe toys

On Tuesday morning Reuben Mathew, an associate with Pennsylvania Public Interest Research Group Education Fund (PIRG), joined Auditor General Eugene DePasquale to announce PennPIRG's 33rd Trouble in Toyland report. 

PennPIRG tests popular children's toys every year to see which pose hazards to children. This year, 15 of the 40 toys tested had safety issues.

Wolf, advocates celebrate passage of domestic violence restrictions even as many proponents leave legislature

The Pennsylvania General Assembly did the seemingly impossible this session — it passed a bill related to firearms.

"It had the word 'weapon,' it dealt with guns,” Sen. Tom Killion (R-Delaware) said of HB 2060, which Gov. Tom Wolf signed in October. “In Pennsylvania, that's never supposed to happen."
