Pittsburgh council looks for ways to combat climate change

Pittsburgh City Council heard testimony from experts on the city’s ambitious, thrice-redrafted Climate Action Plan Tuesday.

Currently the plan includes reducing Pittsburgh’s greenhouse gas emissions by 80 percent by 2050, cutting transportation emissions in half by 2030 and divesting the city’s pension fund from fossil fuels.

With Reed in on redistricting, optimism growing among advocates

In a memo from last week, outgoing House Majority Leader Dave Reed (R-Indiana) struck a reformist tone while pointing to votes to limit the size of the legislature and adding transparency to lobbying.

“There is still more which needs to be done, from improving government operations to bringing back faith in our system,” Reed wrote when presenting three new bill ideas to his colleagues.
