Pittsburgh, Allegheny County join national initiative to make homes greener and safer

Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto and Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzergald joined together Friday, along with other area officials, to enter into a national initiative to make the region's housing stock more efficient and healthy.

Pittsburgh joins 19 other cities nationwide by participating in the Green & Healthy Homes Initiative (GHHI)- a partnership between the Mayor’s Office, other government agencies, and nonprofit service providers to deliver housing intervention programs for Pittsburgh and Allegheny County residents living in energy inefficient, unhealthy, and unsafe homes.
