Wagner opioid plan calls for lawsuit against manufacturers, smarter spending

Occasionally calling out crowd members by name on his home turf, Scott Wagner released his plan to tackle the opioid crisis Wednesday in York.

“I wish there was a switch we could just flip to cut this crisis off,” Wagner said to the crowd of about 200 people. “But the truth to be told is not that simple — there’s no switch to flip.”

Wagner’s plan includes expanding investments into programs with track records of ending addiction, providing more resources to law enforcement to crack down on drug dealers, streamlining regulations for mental health services and revamping the state’s prescription drug monitoring programs.

Sen. Elder Vogel's (R-Beaver) Senate Bill 780, a bill that would define telemedicine and offer guidelines on who can provide telemedicine services and also clarify insurance companies' reimbursements for the services, was brought up in a House Professional Licensure Committee meeting on Wednesday.
