New municipal electric rate fairness proposal draws swift derision from municipal electric providers

Thursday morning, Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Lawrence) announced the introduction of legislation aimed at what he called “fairness” among municipal electric providers, requiring them to adopt more uniform and reasonable rates.

 

Shortly following the announcement, the legislation drew swift negative reaction from those providers, who indicated the proposal would have “dramatic unintended consequences.”

Civil Service Commission “bans the box” on state employment applications

Joining in a move announced last week by Gov. Tom Wolf for non-civil service positions, the state Civil Service Commission announced this week that it will no longer include a question about criminal convictions on a majority of employment applications for civil service positions.
