On Thursday morning, the Department of Health celebrated the one year mark of launching the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program. The program's goal is to assist health care providers to prescribe and dispense medications safely and referring patients to treatment if needed.

Medical cannabis grower/processor temporary regs published

The Department of Health announced last week that the draft regulations pertaining to medical cannabis growers and processors have been published in the Pennsylvania Bulletin.

 

According to the department, the temporary regulations outline the financial, legal and operational requirements needed by an individual to be considered for a grower/processor permit, as well as where the facilities can be located.

Department of Health to offer free KI tablets for those near nuclear plants

For those living within 10 miles of one of the state’s five nuclear power plants, the Department of Health is offering free potassium iodide or KI tablets. It is also available for those who work or go to school within a 10-mile radius.
