Google protest in Pittsburgh postponed, state officials react to Charlottesville events

As the events that rocked Charlottesville, Virginia this past weekend still reverberate around cities and towns across the country and state, organizers of a protest against Google in Pittsburgh’s East Liberty neighborhood scheduled for this Saturday have postponed the event.

Organizers for the March on Google said in a blog post earlier this week that there were “credible Alt-Left terrorist threats for the safety of our citizen participants” that led to the cancellation.

Reintroduced PA Fairness Act aims to protect the PA LGBT community

Rep. Dan Frankel (D-Allegheny) recently announced that has reintroduced his proposal that would create the Pennsylvania Fairness Act.

The legislation, this session in House Bill 1410, has bipartisan support in the legislature and its goal is to protect lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) Pennsylvanians from sexual orientation and gender identity discrimination statewide in the workplace, housing market, and public accommodations.

Implications of repealing ACA and Medicaid expansion examined by House Democrats in Pittsburgh

Rep. Dan Frankel (D-Squirrel Hill) hosted a House Democratic Policy Committee meeting recently to discuss and explore the implications of a potential federal government repeal of the Affordable Care Act and Medicaid expansion. 

Republican members of Congress were expected to vote on a measure that would repeal the ACA and replace it with the American Health Care Act last week, but the vote was postponed due to a lack of support.
