Ongoing budget impasse puts state-related universities in funding jeopardy

With Gov. Tom Wolf set to manage the state’s finances given the protracted revenue-related budget impasse currently facing the Commonwealth, state-related universities have yet to get approval of their funding—a combined $650 million—and they are now sounding off about the impact not having that funding might have on their operations.

Auditor General to audit Penn State University

Auditor General to audit Penn State University

Auditor General Eugene DePasquale Tuesday announced that his office will be starting a performance audit of Penn State University.

 

According to the auditor general, this is the first ever performance audit of Penn State and is quasi-modeled on a performance audit of the University of Pittsburgh.

 

The audit will look at a number of different areas dating back to January 2013 and extending through the audit period, but will focus on the university’s reforms since the Jerry Sandusky child sexual abuse scandal, governance changes, and efforts to control tuition hikes.
