Oversight committee finds room for improvement in lobbying disclosure law

A new report from a powerful House committee found there are shortcomings in the state’s lobbying law that negatively impact transparency and compliance, despite efforts to comply from most lobbying firms.

 

The 42-page report was made public with a 9-0 vote on Wednesday from the House Government Oversight Committee, concluding their first investigation since being formed with the passage of the most recent House rules.

House Government Oversight Committee set to meet over lobbying disclosure law

A new powerful oversight committee is scheduled to meet publicly for the first time next week to release its findings on a lobbying disclosure law enacted last year.

 

The House Government Oversight Committee will hold a public hearing on Monday, Oct. 21 on their investigation into Act 2 of 2018, legislation that strengthened reporting requirements and increased penalties for those lobbying state government officials.
