Policy Committee hearing stresses need for new bullying legislation

Testimony before the House Democratic Policy Committee Tuesday drove home one clear point: Bullying can no longer be considered just a part of growing up. It needs to be stopped.

Parents and experts spoke to state representatives in Germantown for over two hours. Stories of physical abuse, taunting, changing schools, and even suicide attempts mixed grief with anger. While many things may cause bullying, the anger it creates appears to be fomenting action from the legislature.
