VIDEO: Helm calls for equal custody rights for parents

Rep. Sue Helm (R-Dauphin) is working on getting legislation passed that would call for at least 40-60 custody rights when parents are going through a divorce. 

Helm stated that all to often custody is extremely unequal and studies show a child does better when both parents are involved in their day to day activities.

Wolf signs Helm's bill designating June 19th as "Juneteenth National Freedom Day"

Governor Tom Wolf signed Rep. Sue Helm's (R-Dauphin) bill, House Bill 619, into law as Act 9 on Wednesday. 

Act 9 designates June 19 as "Juneteenth National Freedom Day" and recognizes news of the Emancipation Proclamation reaching Galveston, Texas, on June 19, 1865.

Did You Get The Memo? Vaccinations, mandatory minimums and vehicle registration stickers

It was a busy week in the state Capitol — Gov. Tom Wolf signed the first bill of the session into law, strengthening penalties for public officials convicted of felonies. In the House, legislators argued over a bill that would end cash assistance payments to needy Pennsylvanians, while students from Pennsylvania colleges and universities visited the Capitol to rally for free college. 
 
With all of the action in and around the rotunda, there were a number of co-sponsorship memos that were filed by legislators to address everything from vaccination exemptions to criminal sentencing for drug dealers. In our latest edition of “Did You Get The Memo?” we take a look at some of the proposals you may have missed that were introduced in the legislature this week.
