Legislators hold news conference on bills to help infants of mothers with postpartum depression

Studies show that one in seven women could experience postpartum depression after having a baby and that depression, left untreated, could cause emotional and behavioral problems for their children. 

On Wednesday morning lawmakers, health care providers, and patients affected by postpartum depression joined in the media center to discuss Senate and House Bill 200.

Legislators make push to include mental and physical health disabilities in school curriculum

In an effort to stymie the stigma that often follows an individual suffering from a mental health disability, state Representatives Dan Miller (D-Mt. Lebanon) and Mike Schlossberg (D-Lehigh) have introduced legislation to add curriculum requirements for health classes across Pennsylvania to educate students in an age-appropriate manner about mental health, physical disabilities, and developmental disabilities.
