Government officials, anti-rape advocates call for action on untested rape kit issue

Auditor General Eugene DePasquale was joined by Rep. Brandon Neuman (D-Washington), law enforcement groups, and anti-rape advocacy organizations Wednesday morning to call for action on the issue of the growing backlog of untested rape kits in Pennsylvania.

According to a recent special report issued by the Office of Auditor General, which used a mandated report issued by the Department of Health on untested rape kits, there are currently 3,044 untested rape kits in Pennsylvania and a backlog of 1,852 rape kits awaiting testing.
