State reps discuss environmental issues in Philadelphia

Three of Philadelphia’s new state representatives met with voters in Olde Kensington on Thursday night to promote their upcoming bills that focus on tackling environmental causes.

Representatives Joe Hohenstein, Mary Isaacson and Malcolm Kenyatta shook hands and took questions from their constituents at Original 13 Ciderworks, a local brewpub in Kenyatta’s 181st district. The evening was hosted by PA Conservation Voters, PennEnvironment and the Sierra Club.

Meeting Philadelphia’s four new House reps

The 2019-20 session of the Pennsylvania legislature brings new names across the state. In Philadelphia’s delegation, four new Democratic representatives were sworn in on New Year’s Day.

The outgoing reps combined for about a century of service in Harrisburg. Yet, as the commonwealth and her biggest city change, so do the faces representing those citizens.

PA legislators share swearing-in day on social media

It was a rare New Year’s Day swearing-in ceremony to start the 203rd session of the Pennsylvania legislature. From the shores of Lake Erie to the banks of the Delaware River, representatives and senators joined in Harrisburg and vowed to uphold the laws and serve their constituents.

For some, it was the first day of a new job. Others returned for another term of elected service. Many shared the afternoon’s proceedings on Twitter.
