Senate Democrats name committee members

Senate Democrats filled out their committee assignments Wednesday.

One of the biggest changes came on the State Government committee, where all but chair Anthony Williams (D-Philadelphia) were replaced by freshmen legislators.

Two freshmen, Sen. Steve Santasiero (D-Bucks) and Sen. Maria Collett (D-Montgomery) received appointments to the powerful Appropriations Committee as well.

Pileggi says seniority, tradition not respected in committee chairmanship appointments

Wednesday, a message read across the Senate desk announced that recently Sen. Dominic Pileggi (R-Delaware), recently dethroned as majority leader, had resigned his chairmanship of the Senate Local Government Committee.

According to a letter obtained by The PLS Reporter, Sen. Pileggi did not actually resign the chairmanship, but merely refused to accept the chairmanship given to him.
