Looking for heroines, Pittsburghers gather on eve of Foster removal to pick a new statue

Pittsburgh’s controversial Stephen Foster Memorial was taken down from its perch in Oakland early Thursday morning. But the previous night, with the help of the Task Force on Women in Public Art, city residents had their own conversation about who should replace the noted song smith on his pedestal.
