Grand jury recommendations receive mixed response from state lawmakers after sexual assault probe

Following a sexual assault investigation into a former state representative, a Dauphin County grand jury wants the Pennsylvania General Assembly to create an independent office dedicated to reviewing misconduct claims against members.

 

But the recommendations have not received universal support among state lawmakers, as Democrats and Republicans appear to be at odds on how to move forward.

A group of Democratic Senators led by Sen. Judy Schwank (D-Berks) on Wednesday announced the introduction of legislation aimed at banning the use of non-disclosure agreements in settlements of sexual misconduct allegations.
