DHS Secretary announces nearly $52 million for evidence-based home visiting programs

Department of Human Services (DHS) Secretary Teresa Miller hosted a press conference in the Capitol Media Center Wednesday morning to announce funding in the 2018-2019 budget for evidence-based home visiting programs. 

DHS supports four evidence-based home visiting programs, the Nurse Family Partnership Program, Parents as Teachers, Healthy Families America and Early Head Start.

Sec. Miller also presented a proclamation from Gov. Tom Wolf that designates April as Child Abuse Prevention Month in Pennsylvania.

The Senate Health and Human Services Committee unanimously advanced three acting secretary nominations Monday.

Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs Acting Secretary Jennifer Smith, Department of Human Services Acting Secretary Teresa Miller, and Department of Health Acting Secretary and Physician General Rachel Levine all were sent to the Senate Rules and Executive Nominations Committee with the committee’s favorable recommendation.
