Lawmakers push for package of bills aimed at curbing sexual harassment and assault

A dozen lawmakers from both the House and the Senate representing both sides of the political aisle held a press conference Monday in a push to see movement on a package of bills they believe will curb sexual harassment and assault both within and outside the halls of the state Capitol.

A press conference on Monday was held to support and raise awareness about crime victims' rights. 

At a later press conference, Rep. Mark Rozzi (D-Berks), led a rally on the Capitol steps to bring to light the need for changes in Pennsylvania's laws that affect the victims of childhood sexual abuse.

Statute of limitations reform bill gains momentum in House

A bill that would reform both the criminal and civil statute of limitations for sexual abuse claims that cleared the House Judiciary Committee Tuesday morning along a bipartisan vote could be considered on the House floor in the coming weeks, those close to the issue say.

House Bill 1947, introduced by committee Chairman Ron Marsico (R-Dauphin), would completely eliminate the criminal statute of limitations for serious sexual offenses committed when a victim is a minor and increases the civil statute of limitations to when a person attains the age of 50.
