Drunk drivers may face higher fees beginning January 11th

Sen. John Rafferty (R-Chester) has sponsored a handful of bills to get drunk drivers off the road. Starting today, January 11th, drivers are still able to refuse a blood-alcohol test when pulled over by police, but if they are convicted and lose their license they will have to pay a high restoration fee to get it back, costing them up to two thousand dollars.

VIDEO: New DUI law now in effect

Legislators and other supporters of Act 33 held a press conference in the Capitol media center to discuss Pennsylvania’s new Driving Under the Influence Ignition Interlock Law.

This law goes into effect Friday August 25th and will implement an Ignition Interlock System for first time DUI offenders.
