House Democratic Policy Committee seeks answers in growing hospital crisis

With two major Philadelphia hospitals facing uncertain futures, the House Democratic Policy Committee met to discuss how to counter the loss of health care facilities to lower-income Pennsylvanians.
 
Hahnemann Hospital is in bankruptcy court over the nine-figure losses the owner has sustained since buying it in 2017, and it is slated to close before summer ends. Its sister property, St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, has been solicited for purchase by a consortium of four local health care brands.

PA House poised to declare pornography a public health crisis

The Pennsylvania House of Representatives took a step Monday toward declaring pornography a public health crisis.

 

That step came when the House Health Committee approved by a 19-5 vote a resolution sponsored by Committee Majority Chairman Matt Baker (R-Tioga) that condemns the free, widespread availability of pornography as a public health crisis.
