VIDEO: Gov. Wolf takes a step towards equal pay with new executive order

On Wednesday afternoon Gov. Tom Wolf was joined by First Lady Frances Wolf, multiple legislators, and advocates as he took action to address the gender pay gap in the commonwealth by signing an executive order that ends the practice of state agencies requiring a job applicant to provide their salary history during the hiring process.

Senate committee advances legislation to strengthen Equal Pay Law

The Senate Labor and Industry Committee Wednesday unanimously advanced Senate Bill 241, legislation sponsored by Sen. Tom McGarrigle (R-Delaware) that supporters say would strengthen Pennsylvania’s Equal Pay Law.

 

Currently, Pennsylvania’s Equal Pay Law disallows paying different wages for the same work based on one’s gender, but with exceptions including a merit-based wage system, a seniority-based wage system, a quantity/quality based system, and any other factor other than sex.
