Future plans for Pittsburgh transit define 35th House District special election race

While many American political races often become referendums on issues like abortion or gun control, the campaign to fill former Representative Marc Gergely’s seat is divisive because of a different issue: bus routes.

Austin Davis, a Democrat, and Fawn Walker-Montgomery, a Republican, are facing off in the January 23 special election to replace Gergely, a Democrat, after he resigned last fall over criminal charges related to an illegal gambling ring.

Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate for the month of December ticked up one-tenth of a percentage point in December, the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry announced Friday.

The fourth and presumably final candidate to make the Pittsburgh city council District 8 special election ballot will be Republican Rennick Remley. 

 

Remley, manager of corporate relations at the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, could not be reached immediately for comment.
